Let's throw back just a bit to this weekend’s super cool Billboard Music Awards performance by none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson!
This wasn’t a grainy replay of a bell bottom-and-afro-happy performance by the Jackson 5 (little Michael sure was adorable though!). This was a full body, pop locking, pelvic thrusting hologram that moonwalked the stage to his post-mortem single, “Slave to the Rhythm.” And it's had us tapping our toes all week!
Sure, Tupac and ODB did it most recently at Coachella and Rock the Bells (Elvis was first in a 2007 performance with Celine Dion), and both performances were great. But MJ’s was a full-on production, complete with a posse of hologram back up dancers, a digital throne room and pyrotechnics. Not only did the 3D performance receive a standing ovation from the audience, who were also entertained by live dancers in the aisles of the auditorium, but it was also seen by 10.5 million viewers—the most the Billboard Music Awards has had in 13 years. Even after his passing, MJ is still entertaining and has us moving and grooving.
In case you missed it, check out this stellar performance by this musical icon. And if you’re a slave to this song like we are, scroll down to enjoy some of our favorite MJ hits. Because, let’s face it, we’re all dancing machines at heart!
